  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP therapy is a safe, effective and all-natural way to heal damaged joints and soft tissue in order to alleviate chronic pain. PRP consists of a small sample of your own blood, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and then injected into the injured area. PRP has been used for over 20 years in numerous surgical fields to enhance bone grafting, accelerate wound healing and reduce the risk of infection after surgery. Medical research and intensive studies are leading the way to the tremendous benefits offered by PRP for joint pain, soft tissue injuries, low back disc degeneration, and arthritis, with the goal of enhancing the body’s ability to naturally heal itself. Dr. Shafi can determine if PRP is an appropriate option. Give us a call today to schedule an initial consultation or learn more.

  • Trigger Point Injections (TPI)

Trigger Point Injections is a valuable option for treating pain in patients. It is a procedure performed to treat aching areas of muscles that contain trigger points (spasms of muscle that form when muscles do not relax). These muscle bulges can often be felt underneath the skin. Trigger points often irritate the surrounding nerves, causing chronic pain that often shoots to other areas of the body.
This procedure is performed by inserting a small needle into the trigger point. The injection contains local anesthetic, saline, or even a corticosteroid. This injection allows the problematic trigger point to become inactive and, in turn, alleviate pain. These injections only take a few minutes and can greatly alleviate pain and discomfort.

  • Viscosupplementation

Viscosupplementation is used often in osteoarthrosis or degenerative arthritis of the knee, when the normal synovial or joint fluid becomes less functional (it loses its lubricating properties). Injecting the knee with a viscosupplement agent, such as Hyalgan or Synvisc, can be a very effective medical tool to help restore normal biomechanical function and viscous/elastic properties, which help the joint act more biomechanically efficient.
This treatment is very effective for sports injuries and for athletes that love to run, bike, hike or participate in any sports that puts stress on the knees. It is also a great alternative to for people who are suffering from arthritis and would like to avoid knee replacement surgery. The viscosupplementation is covered by most insurances. Viscosupplementation will help diminish inflammation to an extent, as well as improve the lubricating capabilities of the joints.

  • Biologic Matrix Injections
